capitalism is fun

Childhood memories of Monopoly games are tinged with laughter and strategy, but who knew they'd become the muse for my art? The game's tokens, symbols of capitalism's many facets, now serve as my canvas. In a humorous twist, I've named each piece using free association, a nod to the irony of capitalism's "free" nature. For instance, the horse token labelled "SHIT" isn't just a chuckle-worthy juxtaposition; it's a reflection on capitalism's volatile nature, where fortunes can turn on a dime.

In "CAPITALISM IS FUN," I present these tokens against pastel colours, removing them from their board game context. This minimalism, paired with whimsical captions, invites viewers to confront the raw symbolism of each piece. It's a call for reflection on our roles in the vast capitalist system. By presenting these familiar tokens in an unexpected light, I hope to spark conversations, challenge biases, and bridge the gap between the capitalist and the worker.
