MEMORY LOST
"MEMORY LOST," emerged after finishing my "DEAD PARENTS THINGS" collection. It delves into the recollections of others, interpreted through Super 8mm home movies I purchased on eBay. I found it fascinating that such intimate, intentionally captured memories can be made available to anyone and commodified online. This project took nearly a year, scanning and editing over 5,000 feet of film from 10 families, with footage dating from the 1950s to the 1980s. The artwork pairs still images pulled from the footage with imagined dialogue from the subjects, offering a layered exploration of notions of ownership and authorship, memory, photography, and time, transcending temporal constraints to evoke emotion and prompt contemplation.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LOOK AT YOU

HE WAS ALWAYS SO SAD

I DIDN'T MEAN TO MAKE HER CRY

WE WERE HAPPY THEN

SHE WAS VERY BEAUTIFUL

I WAS LOST IN THOUGHT

I TRIED MY BEST ALWAYS

I LOVED HER MORE

HE WAS FEARLESS

HE WAS A MAN'S MAN

THEY DIDN'T PLAY WITH US

I STILL DREAM OF HIM

WE DESPERATELY DESIRED TO BE FAMOUS

SHE COULD NOT FOLLOW
