This carafe never held coffee
This was my mother’s coffee carafe. It never held tea or coffee. It was an object to be admired, dusted, but never touched. I believe it lived in the living room on top of the cabinet. When friends would visit my parents, they were offered coffee from a Proctor Silex Automatic Drip coffee machine in the kitchen. Eventually, this carafe was removed from its place on the cabinet. I don’t remember exactly when it was packed away; I only remember noticing it was gone one day. I never asked why.
