This scratch and win ticket lost
This was my Dad's lottery ticket, who affectionately referred to them as 'scratch and loses.' To him, these tickets were more than mere paper; they embodied hope and the thrilling chance of a life-altering win. Each ticket held a world of possibilities, a testament to the unforeseen turns of fate. Dad had an array of tools for scratching off these tickets, ranging from a long letter opener to a simple quarter or even his fingernail when nothing else was available. Often, he would skip the game's process, heading straight to reveal if he was a winner, not liking to waste time in suspense. Despite our attempts to diversify his gifts, Dad always preferred lottery tickets, frequently reminding us, "Save your money, I don't need anything else." Although he always said he'd share his wins with us, he never won big.
