This SHIP NEVER SAILED THE SEAS

My mother's brass plate, an emblem of decorative allure amidst our home's copper keepsakes, featured a ship and a small, enigmatic boat at sea. It migrated from the kitchen to the basement rec room, a silent sentinel to our family's evolving narrative. Never cleaving through real ocean waves, yet in my musings, it embarked on epic quests, filling me with a blend of exhilaration at the prospect of adventure and a subtle unease—akin to the dread of being adrift and lost. Its origins, whether a thoughtful gift or a spontaneous purchase by my mother, are as shrouded in mystery as the intentions of those aboard the tiny craft. Perhaps it now serves as a metaphor, questioning if, in our current lives, we find ourselves lost at sea, navigating the vast and unpredictable waters of existence.
